Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP's)

What is an Education, Health and Care Plan? (EHCP)

An EHCP, or Education, Health and Care Plan, is a legal document that outlines the special educational, health, and social care needs of a child or young person with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). It sets out the support that the child or young person should receive to help them achieve their educational and developmental goals. EHCP's are designed to ensure that children and young people with SEND receive the appropriate support and services they need to reach their full potential.

The SEND Code of Practice 2015 is a statutory guidance document issued by the UK government. It sets out the legal requirements for local authorities, schools, and other education providers to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). It sets out guidance for service providers to work together to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND to promote inclusive education for all.

The code of practice outlines the principles and key features of the SEND system, including the identification, assessment, and provision of support for children and young people with SEND.
